WRIT 106 and HONP 108 Guidance

HONP 108: Transformations is a required Honors EDGE core course.

HONP 108 also satisfies the SEEDS Foundations: Effective Writing II requirement. For that reason, Honors EDGE students should not ordinarily take both HONP 108 and WRIT 106.

Complete HONP 108 for Effective Writing II

Honors EDGE students complete HONP 108: Transformations.

HONP 108 fulfills two purposes:

It satisfies a required Honors EDGE core-course requirement.
It satisfies the SEEDS Effective Writing II requirement.

Do Not Replace HONP 108 with WRIT 106

Completing WRIT 106 does not eliminate the Honors EDGE requirement to complete HONP 108.

HONP 108 remains required even if you:

Previously completed WRIT 106
Transferred an equivalent writing course
Tested out of a University writing requirement
Satisfied Effective Writing II through another course

Avoid Unnecessary Duplication

If you are an Honors EDGE student and are scheduled to take both WRIT 106 and HONP 108, consult your academic advisor before the add/drop deadline.

Depending on your degree requirements and academic record, taking both courses may result in unnecessary duplication.

Do not drop or change a course without confirming how the change affects your schedule, financial aid, degree progress, and full-time enrollment status.

When Should I Take HONP 108?

Honors EDGE students should ordinarily complete HONP 108 during their first year in the program.

Individual schedules may differ based on transfer credit, major requirements, admission term, and course availability.

If You Already Completed WRIT 106

You are still required to complete HONP 108.

Contact Honors EDGE and your academic advisor to determine how HONP 108 will apply to your remaining degree requirements.
